Bob Stewart’s business experience includes twelve year with Platinum Group, following stints at Merchants’ Exchange, Cargill, Inc. and Surface Mount Taping Corporation. He was the senior operating executive at both Surface Mount Taping and Merchants’ Exchange, the oldest organized commodity exchange in North America. Bob’s background includes practicing as a corporate, securities and transactions lawyer at Fredrikson & Byron and auditing for Price Waterhouse. At Platinum Bob has worked with a wide variety of businesses.
Bob has significant experience in working with privately owned and family businesses. He has also had opportunity to work with multi-national business ventures, particularly in Asia. Bob and his family lived in Kuala Lumpur for several years during his tenure with Cargill. Bob received the 2012 Transaction of the Year Award from the Turnaround Management Association. Bob has served on fifteen boards of directors of for-profit and non-profit entities.
Bob holds a law degree from the University of Virginia and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive) and a member of the Minnesota State Bar (inactive). Bob also served his country as a Peace Corps volunteer. He is currently serving as an elected City Council Member for the City of Edina, Minnesota.
